Rediscovering the Joy of Cooking

I am a 20-something girl from Chicago who has somehow made her way out to Los Angeles, California (via Nashville) with my husband of 3 years and our 2 rescue dogs (who love food more than I do). By day I am a pediatric nurse practitioner and work at a children’s hospital. I LOVE my job, but I don’t like to define myself by it. I also enjoy: reading (my other love), going to the beach, scuba diving, traveling (especially health-related missions—part of my heart is in Africa), hot baths, wine tastings, hiking, and exploring new places.

  1. Emily,

I have started posting on the nest a little bit and I saw your food blog/nest bio (erinms). I am a PNP at Children’s Hospital Oakland and went to Vanderbilt for my MSN. Where do you work in LA? Did you go to Vanderbilt? I’m wondering if we crossed paths there. Anyways, just wanted to drop in and say hi. Your pictures are great, love the Napa travel pics, we love going up there. I’ll have to try some of your recipes. Email me at if you get a chance.

I just added a link to your blog on my site. We’re here in Silver Lake so not too far from you guys. If you ever have any great food finds in Studio City, etc., let me know. You can e-mail me at

    Happy Cooking,

I’m so sorry for everything that is going on with you right now. I will definitely keep you in my prayers. One of the first things they told me when I found out I had this NO BIRTH CONTROL ever. I thought that was weird but understood more when you wrote. I would love to give you more details because like you I had no symptoms except for the loss of my last child. Do you mind giving me your email address? Or actually you can email me at Thanks again for sharing, it meant a lot.
